Condor Tool & Knife 60005 Blasted Satin Blade with Micarta Handle Bushlore Camp Knife and Leather Sheath, 4-5/16-Inch
The Bushlore Survival Knife from Condor Tool and Knife traces its proud history back to 1787, the year Gerb Weyesburg Company was founded in Solingen, Germany. The quality of the swords, military knives, agricultural tools and household cutlery they manufactured made Solingen the cutlery capital of the world. In 1964, the company formed Imasca with a new plant in Santa Ana, El Salvador and filled it with state of the art German equipment. Some of the original local employees who were sent to Solingen for extensive training forty years ago are still working in the factory today, turning out the finest quality machetes, shovels and other hand tools. In 2004, Imasca developed a first quality line of tools and knives for the North American and European outdoor markets and Condor Tool and Knife was born. Blasted satin finish is achieved by sand or bead blasting the exposed metal portion of the blade. Micarta handle scales are extremely durable and weather resistant. Handle scales are held securely by two brass rivets. Handle has piped lanyard hole. Includes leather sheath.

About Survival Knives

Survival knives are developed for strenuous scenarios when your life depends on them. They are tough use tools and can be put to work for cutting, prying, wood carving, self defense, and many other jobs. The Condor Tool & Knife 60005 Blasted Satin Blade with Micarta Handle Bushlore Camp Knife and Leather Sheath, 4-5/16-Inch can potentially be used as a survival knife in certain situations.

Components of a Knife

The basic parts of the knife are the blade, hilt, handle, tang, and pommel or butt. These primary components can be further broken down. The blade consists of the tip or point, edge, spine, and bevels. The hilt is the handguard located between the blade and the grip area. The handle consists of the scales (the grippy sides of the handle) and installing screws. The tang is the piece of metal that runs the full length of the knife from pommel to point. The pommel or butt is at the rear of the knife (end facing the cutter when held normally in hand).

Fixed Blade VS Folding Survival Knives

There are several assorted types of knives including fixed blades and folding knives. Typical fixed blade knives consist of full-length outdoor knives, survival knives, combat knives, and cooking knives. Folding knives are more compact than fixed blade knives and quickly carried in a pocket for every-day-carry (EDC). The method of how the blade folds into the grip makes it a useful alternative for smaller sized pocket knives.

Condor Tool & Knife Knife Blade Care and Upkeep

Condor Tool & Knife knives need to be cared for and kept effectively to optimize their functional life as a cutting tool. Blade maintenance includes occasionally sharpening the edge with a grinder, diamond, or whetstone sharpener and rubbing the blade down with a light coat of oil.

Knife Laws and Bladed Weapon Carry Laws

Numerous states, regions, and areas have guidelines about wearing knives and bladed weapons. Some of these weapon associated laws may apply to the Condor Tool & Knife 60005 Blasted Satin Blade with Micarta Handle Bushlore Camp Knife and Leather Sheath, 4-5/16-Inch. The laws depend upon things like the kind of knife, how the knife is carried, the blade length, and the locations where the knife is carried. There are a few basic rules you can follow when carrying a blade.

Beware possessing knives concealed considering that this categorizes the knife as a concealed carry weapon (CCW). Some states have guidelines restricting particular things like blade lengths over 3 inches. For fixed blade knives, carry them on your belt when you are working outside, camping outdoors, trekking, or out adventuring in the outdoors.

For folding blade knives, again be careful of carrying folding blade lengths over 3 inches concealed. Look into getting a CCW license if your region or state requires it. Knives which have assisted opening abilities or auto openers are normally limited.

Take care carrying knives in places around government structures, institutions, and public functions. The majority of special occasions like sporting events, county fairs, and shows do not allow knives of any kind and security will confiscate them upon entry.
