The Junglas is named after the Colombian police JUNGLA Compaa Jungla Antinarcticos special operations forces and was originally designed as a cross between a fixed blade knife and a machete to be employed in Latin American jungle and counter-narcotics operations. The original Junglas now sees service with counter-narcotics operators, adventurers and woodsmen globally.
Care/Maintenance: ESEE carbon steel knives are made from 1095 steel. 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user’s responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.

About Survival Knives

Fixed Blade VS Folding Survival Knives

There are several various types of knives including fixed blades and folding knives. Fixed blades are usually much better for heavy-duty cutting jobs. The durability of the blade helps the cutter control the knife edge more effectively, and the blade generally holds up better over the long run. Typical fixed blade knives include full-length hunting knives, outdoor knives, battle knives, and kitchen knives. Folding knives are more compact than fixed blade knives and quickly kept in a pocket for every-day-carry (EDC). The method of how the blade folds into the handle makes it a practical choice for smaller sized pocket knives. Some folding knives have lockouts that assist keep the blade in position when unfolded. This simulates a fixed blade while keeping the benefits of a folder. Keep in mind that lockouts are mechanical and can stop working if intense pressure is applied to the folding knife blade.

ESEE knives must be taken care of and maintained effectively to optimize their usefulness as a cutting tool. Attempt to keep the blade dry and away from moisture whenever possible. Blade maintenance includes sometimes honing the edge with a whetstone, diamond, or grinder sharpener and rubbing the blade down with a light coat of oil. Make sure the edge is free of any chips or nicks and deburr any defects.
