Sawyer Select S1 Filter and S3 Purifier
Enjoy cleaner, safer drinking water wherever you roam with the Sawyer Select series of water filters and purifiers, which combine an innovative foam membrane in a durable silicone bottle with Sawyer’s signature 0.1 micron hollow fiber filter to remove virtually all contaminants found in fresh water.
Available in two versions, the foam membrane significantly reduces chemicals and pesticides, and also helps remove taste and odor in the S1 Filter and S3 Purifier.
The foam density increases in the S3 for reducing metals and viruses.
How It Works
Removing bacteria, protozoa, and cysts, the 0.1 absolute micron Micro Squeeze Filter screws onto the top of the bottle and has a push-pull cap for easy drinking directly from the spout. Inside the bottle, the dense foam membrane’s activated carbon and other proprietary ingredients create a significantly larger surface for treating contaminated water than traditional block or granule filters.

Ideal for travel, hiking, or preparedness for any area around the world (including those near mining operations), the S3 Purifier is rated up to 400 uses.
in addition to filtering out bacteria, protozoa, chemicals and pesticides, the S3 Purifier’s foam membrane reduces heavy metals such as copper, arsenic, and mercury down to 0.5 parts per billion and filters out 99.99% of viruses.

Filtering Foam
The Foam Adsorption Technology used in Sawyer Select systems uses a filtration process in which molecules adhere to the surface of the adsorbent foam membrane.
Combined with the 0.1 micron absolute Micro Squeeze filter, this highly advanced filtration process will ensure that particulate, pathogens, and microplastics above 0.1 microns are filtered out of your water.

Hollow Fiber Membrane
Sawyers water filters are comprised of tiny hollow fiber membranes that allow water to enter into their core through tiny micro-pores.
Thicker fiber walls combined with a smaller inner diameter make Sawyer fibers 75% stronger* than typical hollow fiber membranes, giving you a fast flow and enabling the filter to be continually backwashed forcefully to re up to 98% of the original flow rate.

0.1 Absolute Micron Filtering
Each Sawyer water filter features 0.1 micron absolute filtration, meaning there is no pore size larger than 0.1 micron in size.
This makes it nearly impossible for microplastics, harmful bacteria, protozoa, or cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Vibrio cholerae, and Salmonella typhi (which cause Cholera and Typhoid) to pass through.
Fiber Protection
Sawyer’s hollow fiber membranes are fully encased and sealed to keep them protected. When fibers are not enclosed, physical damage of exposed fibers could allow harmful pathogens to pass through.
Tested 3 Times
Every Sawyer filter is performance tested three different times during the manufacturing process for your protection.
Testing occurs after the fiber element construction and twice after casing assembly to ensure no harmful pathogens leak through the sealed case or internal O-rings.
