WIDE SPECTRUM OF HANDLE COLORS – The Delica 4 now offers new vibrant tones including blue, green, brown, gray, orange, zome green, black and purple.
SUPERIOR BLADE STEEL – The blades are full flat-ground VG-10 Steel with a thinner highly refined cutting edge and a larger 13mm opening hole.
ULTRA-LIGHTWEIGHT – Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness.
ERGONOMIC – Added to the blade’s spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left-or right-handed clip.
A SECURE GRIP – Molded onto the FRN handle’s surface is Bi-Directional Texturing for slip-free tactile traction. It provides resistance to slipping in the hand.

A Bit About Spyderco
Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Initially, the company focused on selling our first product the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker primarily at fairs and trade shows around the country in their Bread Truck. In 1981, the Glessers put down roots in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carrying at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife.

DELICA 4
RELIABLE HIGH PERFORMANCE
The Delica has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line since its introduction in 1990. It and its larger counterpart, the Endura, pioneered the concept of lightweight, clip-carry, one-handed folding knives and were instrumental in popularizing fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) as a handle material.
In 2006, the Delica was completely redesigned to yield the current Delica4. To increase strength while keeping weight to a minimum, its handle features skeletonized stainless steel liners encased within FRN scales boasting Spydercos Bi-Directional Texturing pattern for a superior grip.
Following the introduction of the saber-ground Delica4 with a black FRN handle, Spyderco introduced a version featuring the Emerson opening feature for quick deployment, a flat-ground version with a premium ZDP-189 blade, and a series of flat-ground VG-10 Delicas with different colored FRN handles.

About Survival Knives

Survival knives are developed for hard scenarios when your life is counting on them. They are hard use tools and can be put to work for cutting, pulling objects apart, carving, self-defense, and lots of other jobs. The Spyderco Delica 4 Lightweight 7.15 Signature Folding Knife with 2.90 Flat-Ground Steel Blade and High-Strength FRN Handle – PlainEdge Grind can possibly be used as a survival knife depending on the situation.

Parts of a Knife

The primary parts of the survival knife are the blade, hilt, handle, tang, and pommel or butt. These main parts can be further broken down. The blade includes the tip or point, edge, spine, and bevels. The hilt is the handguard attached between the blade and the handle. The handle consists of the scales (the grippy sides of the handle) and installing hardware. The tang is the piece of metal that runs the full length of the knife from pommel to point. Finally, the pommel or butt is at the rear of the knife (end toward the cutter when held usually in hand).

Fixed Blade VS Folding Survival Knives

There are a number of different types of knives consisting of fixed blades and folding knives. Common fixed blade knives include full-length outdoor knives, survival knives, battle knives, and sashimi knives. Folding knives are more compact than fixed blade knives and quickly carried in a pocket for every-day-carry (EDC). The method of how the blade folds into the handle makes it a useful choice for smaller pocket knives.

Spyderco Knife Blade Care and Upkeep

Spyderco knives should be cared for and maintained correctly to maximize their useful life as a cutting tool. Blade upkeep includes sometimes honing the edge with a grinder, whetstone, or diamond sharpener and rubbing the blade down with a light coat of oil.

Knife Laws and Bladed Weapon Carry Laws

A large number of states, regions, and areas have policies about carrying knives and bladed weapons. Some of these weapon related laws might apply to the Spyderco Delica 4 Lightweight 7.15 Signature Folding Knife with 2.90 Flat-Ground Steel Blade and High-Strength FRN Handle – PlainEdge Grind. The laws depend upon things like the kind of knife, how the knife is carried, the blade length, and the areas where the knife is carried. There are a few basic guidelines you can follow when carrying a blade.

Beware carrying knives concealed given that this categorizes the knife as a concealed carry weapon (CCW). Some states have standards restricting specific things like blade lengths over 3 inches. For fixed blade knives, carry them on your belt when you are working outside, outdoor camping, exploring, or out adventuring in the outdoors.

For folding blade knives, again be careful of carrying folding blade lengths over 3 inches concealed. If your area or state requires it, look into getting a CCW license. Knives which have assisted opening abilities or automatic opening knives are usually limited.

Be careful carrying knives in areas around federal government buildings, institutions, and public gatherings. A lot of special occasions like sporting events, county fairs, and shows do not permit knives of any kind and security will confiscate them upon entry.
