Whole Earth Supply D-2 Steel Tracker Knife Making Blank Blade Hunting Skinning Skinner D2 Knives
This beautiful blade is custom-made from D2 steel. D2 is a high-carbon tool steel, capable of holding a long-lasting edge. D2 is called “semi-stainless”, because it offers more stainless properties than high carbon steels, but it is much tougher than premium stainless steels. D-2 has high wear-resistance and abrasion-resistance properties. It is heat treated and offers a hardness up to 58 HRC. D-2 forms a solid and lasting knife blade edge. About Survival Knives

Survival knives are engineered for strenuous circumstances when your life depends upon them. They are hard use tools and can be put to work for cutting, pulling objects apart, carving, self defense, and many other tasks. The Whole Earth Supply D-2 Steel Tracker Knife Making Blank Blade Hunting Skinning Skinner D2 Knives can possibly be used as a survival knife depending on the situation.

Parts of a Knife

The main parts of the knife are the blade, hilt, grip, tang, and pommel or butt. The tang is the piece of metal that runs the full length of the knife from pommel to tip. The pommel or butt is at the back of the knife (end toward the cutter when held typically in hand).

Fixed Blade VS Folding Survival Knives

There are a number of various types of knives including fixed blades and folding knives. Fixed blades are generally much better for heavy-duty cutting jobs. The sturdiness of the blade helps the cutter control the knife edge better, and the blade typically holds up better over the long term. Typical fixed blade knives include full-length hunting knives, backpacking knives, fighting knives, and kitchen knives. Folding knives are more compact than fixed blade knives and quickly secured in a pocket or with a belt clip for every-day-carry (EDC). The way the blade folds into the handle makes it a useful option for smaller blades. Some folding knives have lockouts that help keep the blade in position when unfolded. This simulates a fixed blade while keeping the advantages of a folder. Lockouts are mechanical and can stop working if intense pressure is applied to the folding knife blade.

Whole Earth Supply Knife Blade Care and Upkeep

Whole Earth Supply knives should be cared for and kept effectively to optimize their useful life as a cutting tool. Blade maintenance includes periodically sharpening the edge with a grinder, whetstone, or diamond sharpener and rubbing the blade down with a light coat of oil.

Knife Laws and Bladed Weapon Carry Regulations

Numerous states, regions, and areas have policies about possessing knives and bladed weapons. Some of these weapon related laws might apply to the Whole Earth Supply D-2 Steel Tracker Knife Making Blank Blade Hunting Skinning Skinner D2 Knives. The laws depend upon things like the kind of knife, how the knife is carried, the blade length, and the areas where the knife is carried. There are a few basic guidelines you can follow when carrying a blade.

Beware carrying knives concealed considering that this classifies the knife as a concealed carry weapon (CCW). Some states have guidelines limiting specific things like blade lengths over 3 inches. For fixed blade knives, carry them on your belt when you are working outside, backpacking, trekking, or out adventuring in the outdoors.

For folding blade knives, once again beware of possessing folding blade lengths over 3 inches concealed. Check out getting a CCW license if your area or state requires it. Knives which use assisted opening abilities or automatic opening knives are normally limited too.

Be careful possessing knives in places around government structures, universities, and public events. The majority of special events like sporting events, county fairs, and concerts do not allow knives of any kind and security will confiscate them upon entry.
